Mattress History *Did you know*

Did you know--
--The first mattress was made from leaves, grass, straw and animal hides?

Did you know--
--1855: Tyler Howe patented the Spring Bed in Spencer, Massachusetts?

Did you know--
--1857: The steel coil spring was invented and is first patented for use in chair seats?
Did you Know--
--1865: The first coil spring construction for bedding was patented?
Did you know--
--In 1885: J.P. Leggett patents improvements to the steel coil bed spring. His innovative method of coupling the springs and attaching them to the wooden bed slats created a successful partnership with C.B. Platt, which eventually became Leggett & Platt Inc.? (Which is the inter spring system used in all of our mattresses we sell here at The Home Center!)
Did you know--
--Memory foam was originally developed by NASA to decrease the very high pressure caused by the extreme g-force occurring during the take-off of the space shuttle.

Here at The Home Center we offer no leaves, or straw, but high quality coil systems perfected by Leggett & Platt Inc., foam (latex- memory) and a soft cotton top! Pillow top, tight top, box top, it doesn't matter-- we have something just right for you!

This month our mattress deals are HOT! Mind blowing if you will. If you haven't stopped in or picked one up, just come on by. The staff here at The Home Center can and will answer any of your questions and are happy to help in anyway!!!

Great article Stacy, very interesting read. Leggett and Platt is older than dirt, but their spring systems are still king...pun intended here :) It is great to know that they are an AMERICAN company too. Thanks.
